Postpartum Care

A postnatal pelvic health assessment is recommended at 3–4 weeks postpartum to support your recovery. The first 12 weeks is the optimal time for remodelling of the abdominal wall so we like to start our postpartum recovery early so we can optimise that window.

We will aim to address the following

  • Pelvic floor muscle weakness or overactivity

  • Recovery from perineal tears, episiotomy or birth trauma

  • Caesarean section recovery and scar management

  • Abdominal muscle separation (DRAM) assessment and treatment

  • Pelvic pain with intercourse

  • Bladder & bowel function including urinary or faecal leakage and/or constipation

  • Musculoskeletal pain (e.g. wrist/thumb pain, neck or back pain, breast feeding posture related pain)

  • Developing a safe plan for return to running, sport, Pilates, or other exercise

  • Mastitis & breast engorgement treatment
